If you want to take in a show in the lap of luxury in our nation's capital, the Sidney Harman Hall is the spot for you. The home of the Shakespeare Theatre Company with a whopping $89 million dollar price tag, was officially opened in 2001, as part of theHarman Center for the Arts. What did the $89 million cover? The 775 seat theater is designed for optimal flexibility, to host a variety of performances. The African makore wood theater panels can be raised to alter the acoustics of the room, while the first several sears are set on movable wagons that can be configured parallel to the stage, or rotated to form a thrust. Notable events at Harman Hall include a taping of the Daily Show with John Stewart. The special guest star was President Barack Obama, who happened to be living close by at the time.
