The August-Wilson Theater is a 1,222-capacity Broadway theatre located in midtown Manhattan. The Theatre opened as the Guild Theatre in 1925. Throughout the years, the theatre saw many changes in ownership and its name changed many times as a result. In 2004, the theatre was bought by current owner, producer and president of Jujamcyn, Rocco Landesman. In 2005, he named the theatre after American playwright August Wilson who died previously that year.
