When it comes to "old school" theaters, the Southern Theatre has certainly earned the title. The historic theater opened in 1896 in downtown Columbus, making it the oldest theater in in the state of Ohio. Completely restored after sitting dormant for nearly twenty years the jewel box theatre, dotted with incandescent light and excellent acoustics, has been reopened as a venue for concerts, operas and plays by the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts. Visit the theater that now serves to join modern performance with history in the heart of Columbus, for an unforgettable and meaningful experience.
