If one were to describe the ideal setting for sports and entertainment the United States, the description would not fall far from Pasadena, California's Rose Bowl Stadium. This, the oldest national tradition in bowl football began in 1902, as part or the "Pasadena New Year's Celebration," culminating in the stunning and fun for the whole family, " Parade of Roses." The celebration has commemorated the arrival of the New Year every year since 1916 in grand Pasadena style and provides a perfect excuse for spending the holiday season in sunny SoCal. In addition to some of the most widely attended football games in history, the Rose Bowl also holds bragging rights as the setting for major soccer tournaments including the FIFA World Cup Final and can claim to providing a stage for the legendary Janis Joplin fronting Big Brother and the Holding Company and Blue Oyster Cult during the flower child heyday of the 1960's. It continues to be an awesome concert venue, providing a stage for musical artists from Guns and Roses and U2, who consider the stadium a not to be missed stop on west coast tours.
