When a place in the Flatbush neighborhood Brooklyn, New York is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it must have quite a history. The King's Theater is a movie type theater originally opened in 1929 as a movie-vaudeville house frequented by the likes of such luminaries as Dolores Del Rio who made an appearance there to usher in the residency of her film "Evangline" with a live show and orchestra and solo pipe organ. However, with the decline of vaudeville came the closing of the original Loews and deterioration set in over the years, until a 2010 renovation restored the theater to its former glory with a gala reopening by none other that the dynamic Diana Ross in 2015. Now a testament to the thick skin of Brooklyn, the theater stands complete with an electronic reproduction of its original Wonder Morton Organ and stunning architectural design providing entertainment to a new generation.
