Built in 1906, this Chicago theater opened on New Year’s Day. It was originally named the Majestic theatre showcasing vaudeville and comedy acts. Forced to close its doors in 1932 during the Great Depression, the theatre was bought and reopened 15 years later as the Sam Shubert Theatre. Today, it is owned by Broadway in Chicago and The PrivateBank. Much of its interior design features the original opulence. Intricately textured ceilings are painted in gold and red velvet seats are warmed by the glowy lighting throughout the theatre.
