The venue opened in 2002 and was originally named John Labatt Center after John Labatt, founder of the London Brewery. It later changed its name to Budweiser Gardens. The center was built to be the downtown home of London Ontario Hockey League team, the London Knights. It is currently home to London’s National Basketball League of Canada team, the London Lightning.
