The Wang Theater, operating as part of the Boch Center, has served the Boston Theater district since 1925, when opened it under the name of the Metropolitan theater and became home to the Boston Ballet in 1962.The 3,600 seat theater has since gone on to bring culture to Boston by providing audiences with treasured performances by companies including the Stuttgart Opera, the Bolshoi Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Kirov Ballet. Its elegant gilded molding and mural make it the ideal setting for some of the finest theatrical productions of its time, earning it recognition as a Boston Landmark by the Boston Landmarks Commission in 1990. A theater as strong as its city, The Wang is part of what has come to define Boston culture and a worthwhile diversion for locals and tourists.
