It may be almost a century old, but thanks to a few passionate private citizens, the Troy Music Hall has not even begun to show its age. First built in 1823 as a gift from the Troy Savings Bank to the community, the celebrated music hall fell into disrepair in the early 20th century, only to be saved when a group of citizens formed the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall Revitalization Committee. The hall was revitalized by community funds, and kicked off its reintroduction in 1979 with a performance by the Benny Goodman Band. Today, the Troy perpetuates its gifts, providing a place for the arts in Troy, New York. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1989.
