The Strand Theatre is located in York, PA and is part of Appell Center for the Performing Arts. It was built in 1925 and is the largest venue in affiliated with the center, with a capacity of 1,262. The theater was built in an Italian Renaissance architectural style with 1800 pounds of gold leaf and murals on the wall. It served as a vaudeville house and silent movie theater in the 20’s and continued showing movies until it closed on 1976. The community banded together to reopen the theater in 1980 and it still going strong today. It is ideal for full scale performances, weddings, large private events and conferences.
