The Paramount Theater is a Kentucky institution dating back to 1931, as one of the first theaters built for talking pictures, and served as a model for others to showcase Paramount Studio films. Although the Depression caused a redesign reducing the theater to one third its size, the resulting product was the beautiful art deco theater known as the Paramount of today. Although the corporation had intended to build one "perfect movie house" in every state of the Union, not every state was as lucky as Ashland, Kentucky.
