Despite the name, John T. Floore's Country Store is not, nor has it ever been, a store. It was opened in 1942 by Mr. John T. Floore as a Texas Dance Hall and cafe, and is still renowned for its homemade bread, tamales, and "Texcentric" atmosphere. Since its opening this Helotes, Texas honky tonk as hosted performers such as Patsy Cline, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, and Bob Dylan and its still going strong. It was listed by Texas Monthly as one of the "50 Things Every Texan Should Do," but word has it, that its something every American might not want to miss either.
