A Generation X er, the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium was born in 1965, in the state of Memphis, Tennessee as the Memphis Memorial Stadium, dedicated the the veterans of World Wars I and II, and the Korean War. Since then, it has gone through many changes. Its natural grass field has been replaced with FieldTurf, and it has been outfitted with a state of the art sound system, and 98 by 48 foot scoreboard. It has been the site of memorable games in the history of the Tigers, and the home of the Southern Heritage classic, with more than 50,000 fans expected to attend. In keeping with its theme of patriotism, the traditional lighting of the historical neon American Flag occurs nightly, and can be seen shining from the stadium for miles. That alone should be worth the price of admission.
