The planning for a community arts center that promised to set a new standard for the arts in the Central California region began in 2001. In 2007, the Gallo Center of the Arts Center, and what was to become one of the most important venues in Stanislaus County, opened its doors to the public. Since its opening, the center has been the focus of entertainment, art, educational activities and multicultural programming for the Central Valley. Its two proscenium theaters, the 444 seat Foster Family Theatre, and the 1248 seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater are each fully equipped to host a wide range of staging and acoustical manipulation to accommodate a wide range of presentations to engage the community of downtown Modesto and all who pass through.
