The EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall opened to rave reviews in October, 1973, and is continuing to bring them in today. The Hall, occupying three acres on the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio serves as the home to the Tuesday Musical Association, the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Akron Youth Symphony, and the Children's Concert Society, and is dedicated to delivering performing arts to the campus and community of Akron. While visitors to the EJ Thomas thrill to the delights of performance, they can also appreciate the features of the venue. The 2,955 seat auditorium features a movable 44 ton, computer controlled ceiling which is capable of closing off the theater's Flying Balcony, Grand Tier, or both, to create a one, two, or three level auditorium, in a design that has made the EJ Thomas one of the world's finest in terms of creative mechanisms and acoustics.
